Role overview
Senior architectural technologist role in Tetra Tech's Architecture team, focused on technical delivery for industrial and manufacturing design projects.
Projects include advanced manufacturing facilities, logistics and distribution centres, data centres, warehouses, process buildings, production environments and operational estates.
The role works with multidisciplinary teams to produce coordinated and compliant construction information.
Technical delivery
- Develop architectural models, drawings, schedules and specifications coordinated with structural, civil, MEP, process and specialist engineering disciplines.
- Prepare, check and coordinate technical information; respond to design queries, resolve clashes and translate design intent into construction-ready documentation.
- Maintain consistency across models, drawings, schedules and specifications, and support model coordination and clash detection.
- Manage workload, contribute to project reporting and support programme commitments.
Coordination and communication
- Work with clients, end users, contractors, suppliers, engineers and internal teams; support design workshops, attend site visits and respond to project queries.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews and help ensure design decisions are understood and reflected in technical information.
- Provide informal guidance to junior colleagues when required; the role is not leadership-focused.
Technical capabilities
- Proficiency in Revit is essential for developing coordinated architectural models, drawings and schedules to project BIM standards.
- Strong understanding of BIM processes, model management, information exchange and multidisciplinary coordination.
- A thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction detailing, materials and relevant technical standards is essential.
- Experience producing detailed architectural design information for industrial, manufacturing, data centre, logistics, commercial or similarly complex buildings.
Required qualifications and experience
- Must be proficient in Revit and able to produce accurate, detailed architectural design information to a high standard.
- Must have experience in a multidisciplinary design environment and coordinate architectural information with structural, civil, MEP and specialist engineering disciplines.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities; solid understanding of construction legislation, compliance and industry standards.
Desirable experience
- Experience in manufacturing facilities, logistics and distribution centres, warehouses, process buildings, laboratories, data centres, energy facilities or industrial estates is advantageous.
- Familiarity with BIM standards, Revit project delivery, model coordination, clash detection and common data environments is desirable.
- Knowledge of CDM responsibilities, design risk management, technical assurance and industrial building operations would be beneficial.
- Experience with contractors, specialist suppliers, end users or facilities teams, and construction-stage support or site-based delivery, is welcomed.
Commercial and design context
Consider how technical decisions affect programme, cost, quality, project risk, operational requirements and client objectives.
Contribute accurate technical inputs to fee proposals, tender content and project-delivery strategies.
Support practical, buildable and value-focused solutions without compromising technical quality or compliance.
An interest in modern construction methods, automation, advanced manufacturing and emerging industrial technologies would be beneficial.
