Senior Analyst - Transport Planner

We are looking to hire a Senior Analyst – Transport / Urban planning who will be responsible for providing analytical and planning support to the Logistics, Transport Planning, and Land Use function, contributing to the development of transport capacity concepts and land use plans for our client a large semi government organization.

This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 6 months.

Key responsibilities:

• Support capacity planning initiatives by translating forecast demand scenarios and target service levels into phased space and capacity requirements, contributing analytical input to strategic briefs and business cases for long-term development plans.
• Review and analyse historical operational performance data to establish baseline conditions and inform future capacity assessments and scenario testing.
• Assess the impacts of proposed or implemented operational changes, including capacity enhancements (such as new facilities or technologies) and potential constraints (such as regulatory or operational limitations).
• Support the development of concept layouts and operating concepts for proposed developments or operational changes, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-integrated movement of people and vehicles.
• Assist in the technical review of proposed development schemes and logistics plans prepared by internal delivery teams and external stakeholders.
• Capture and manage land-use and space planning requirements, including defining spatial needs and prioritising space to balance forecast demand with competing operational requirements.
• Support the review and validation of user requirement specifications, ensuring completeness and alignment with agreed planning assumptions.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of land-use and physical planning documents, including updating plans and supporting datasets with coordinated spatial information.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to help define customer experience and service propositions that inform capacity planning and long-term development activities.
• Review service propositions and planning assumptions to ensure consistency with operational objectives and agreed planning standards.
• Maintain and update planning, simulation, and capacity assessment models to support future demand scenarios and option testing.
• Ensure planning inputs, assumptions, and outputs are robust, transparent, and consistent with agreed methodologies and assumptions.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

• Experience supporting transport capacity planning and land-use development through concept design, operational analysis, and performance-based assessment across complex infrastructure environments.
• Professional experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, or road and infrastructure design within operationally complex contexts.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, AutoTURN, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
• Ability to read, interpret, and develop architectural and transport layouts using AutoCAD, supporting facility planning and operational concepts.
• Experience contributing to concept design development and layout planning to support operational improvements and future capacity requirements.
• Exposure to traffic and vehicle simulation modelling to support capacity assessments, option evaluation, and operational performance reviews.
• Ability to analyse transport and operational performance data to identify trends and evaluate outcomes against defined service standards.
• Working knowledge of traffic modelling and simulation tools (e.g., VISUM, Vissim, SIDRA) is an advantage.
• Relevant professional certifications in logistics, supply chain, or safety compliance are considered an advantage.
