Senior Accountant

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage and oversee the full general ledger function
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with strict deadlines
• Perform bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations
• Monitor and ensure timely invoicing, collections, and payables
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws, including return filing and documentation
• Handle fixed assets register, depreciation, and asset tracking
• Manage payroll accounting entries in coordination with HR
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Monitor project costing, revenue recognition, and job profitability (very important for landscaping/construction)
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making
• Coordinate with external and internal auditors and ensure audit readiness
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls and financial procedures
• Assist in cash flow management and treasury functions
• Prepare MIS reports and management reports on a periodic basis
• Liaise with banks, vendors, and government authorities when required
• Review contracts from a financial perspective to identify risks and obligations
• Supervise and mentor junior accountants and finance staff
• Identify process gaps and implement automation or improvements
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4–7 years of experience in accounting (UAE experience preferred)
• Experience in construction/landscaping industry is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and UAE VAT regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems preferred)
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• ACCA/CPA is an added advantage
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
