Senior Accountant

Role purpose

Accounting and project duties

• Record and review GL, AP, and AR transactions; maintain ERP records; prepare journal entries and schedules; allocate transactions to projects, cost centres, and accounts; complete month- and year-end close.
• Manage project/job-cost accounting; track costs, revenue, budgets, and performance; prepare cost and profitability reports; monitor expenses and cost allocation.
• Handle WIP, progress billing, subcontractor payments, retention, advances, and variation orders; coordinate project finances with Project, Procurement, and Management teams.
• Process supplier and subcontractor invoices, maintain accounts and reconciliations, manage customer invoicing and receivables, follow up balances, and monitor employee advances.
• Prepare bank, supplier, customer, subcontractor, and balance-sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support UAE VAT returns and tax compliance; maintain taxable-transaction documentation and working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and project-cost reports; assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare audit schedules and documentation, coordinate with external auditors, monitor costs and variances, and support project profitability and cost-effective purchasing.

Candidate requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or equivalent; professional qualification such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, CA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years of UAE accounting experience and 2–3 years of direct construction or contracting accounting experience.
• Strong ERP/accounting-system experience and knowledge of construction and project accounting, job-cost accounting, and cost allocation.
• Strong knowledge of GL, AP, AR, supplier/subcontractor accounts, employee advances, petty cash, and bank, supplier, customer, subcontractor, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Able to independently handle monthly and year-end closing; strong financial reporting knowledge and experience supporting external audits.
• Practical UAE VAT knowledge, working knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax, and knowledge of applicable UAE requirements and relevant IFRS principles.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial reconciliations.
• Strong written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, accuracy, attention-to-detail, independent-working, and cross-department coordination skills.

Practical assessment

• Shortlisted candidates may be assessed on project cost allocation, journal entries, bank and supplier/subcontractor reconciliations, retention and advance payments, project cost reporting, and financial analysis.

Pay

• Pay is AED 5,000–7,000 per month.

• Work location is in person.
