Senior Accountant

Role overview

Accounting operations and reporting

• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and reconciliations.
• Handle real estate project escrow accounts and record and reconcile project transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.
• Maintain project accounting records and monitor project costs and expenses.
• Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.

Tax, audit, and project finance

• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare materials for annual audits.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, and other applicable tax requirements.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and maintain supporting documentation.
• Assist with corporate tax calculations, filings, and compliance.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, revenue recognition, and financial performance.

Coordination and controls

• Work with management, project teams, banks, auditors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards and UAE regulations.
• Assist with financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc finance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a UAE real estate development company.
• Strong real estate development and project accounting experience, including escrow account management and reconciliation.
• Strong knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, accounting, and financial compliance requirements.
• Experience with external auditors and annual audits.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential financial information.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
