Provide expert sanctions advice to business units, management, and stakeholders.
Support commercial activity and risk management while ensuring compliance with applicable sanctions regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Advise business teams on sanctions risks, regulations, and controls; interpret OFAC, UN, EU, UK, and relevant local sanctions laws.
- Review high-risk customers, transactions, products, and business relationships; guide new products, markets, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct sanctions risk assessments and control reviews; support investigations and escalation of potential concerns.
- Draft and maintain sanctions policies, procedures, and guidance; deliver organization-wide training and awareness.
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders; monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of global sanctions regulations and financial crime compliance.
- Proven experience in sanctions advisory, sanctions investigations, or compliance risk management.
- Ability to analyze complex regulatory frameworks and commercial scenarios.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience drafting corporate sanctions policies and procedures.
Preferred qualifications
- CAMS, CGSS, ICA Advanced Certificate in Managing Sanctions Risk, or similar certification.
- Experience in corporate banking, investment banking, trade finance, correspondent banking, or compliance consulting.
- Formal legal or regulatory background.
Key performance indicators
Quality and timeliness of sanctions advice, regulatory compliance, and clean audit outcomes.
Effective risk identification and mitigation, stakeholder satisfaction, and engagement.
Successful delivery of training and policy enhancements.
