Rolling Stock Project Engineer - Projects/1 Year Contract

Role overview

Project delivery

• Manage project delivery across resource planning, contractors, stakeholders, scope, budget, risk, procurement, execution, verification, validation and business-owner handover.
• Coordinate rolling stock, depot equipment, asset renewal, enhancement, modification and reinstatement projects throughout their lifecycle.
• Define scope, technical requirements, schedules, risks, resource needs, procurement activities, testing, commissioning and handover requirements.
• Apply KM project management processes, engineering procedures and technical standards.
• Monitor progress in project software, identify risks, issues and dependencies, and propose mitigation measures.
• Coordinate schedules, trackers, milestones and progress reporting with Programme Planning and Project Controls teams.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports for the Project Manager and stakeholders.

Financial and commercial coordination

• Prepare project scopes, technical specifications, cost estimates, project plans and risk assessments.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and expenditures within the assigned scope and report deviations to the Project Manager.
• Review contractor quotations, variation requests, invoices and deliverables for technical compliance and alignment with the approved budget.
• Coordinate with Finance and Procurement to support invoicing, budget tracking and financial reporting.

Stakeholders and handover

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, third parties, suppliers and RTA representatives.
• Gather, document, track and validate stakeholder requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain records of project changes, approvals, actions and stakeholder communications.
• Ensure project documentation, technical submissions, as-built drawings, asset data and maintenance records are accurate, complete and archived.
• Prepare project deliverables in line with project, operational and client requirements; support CIMP, ACCA, PTW and other documentation as required.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings, technical workshops, inspections, testing and acceptance activities.
• Transfer technical documents, training records, asset information and outstanding actions to the asset owner.
• Act as technical focal point for assigned rolling stock and depot-related project activities and interfaces.

Systems and standards

• Support project records and workflows in Maximo or other approved project management systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, maintenance, regulatory and KMHI requirements.

Requirements

• Experience or capability in rolling stock and depot-related engineering project delivery is required by the stated role scope.
• Coordinate technical assessments and engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, maintenance and regulatory standards.

• Prepare project scopes, technical specifications, cost estimates, plans and risk assessments.

• Support project testing, commissioning, acceptance and transfer of technical information to the asset owner.
