About the role

The Robotics Engineer will design, develop, and integrate software for autonomous robotic systems, with strong expertise in C++ and ROS.

The role focuses on robot-to-server communication and integrating autonomous vehicles with Mission Planner and C2/C3 systems.

The work includes reliable exchange of mission, telemetry, vehicle-status, and other required information among vehicles, Mission Planner, and C2/C3 systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement high-performance, scalable robotics systems using C++ and ROS.
  • Develop releasable C++ shared libraries and APIs for reusable robotics software components.
  • Establish communication between robots, sensors, actuators, and external devices.
  • Implement reliable, low-latency robot-to-robot and robot-to-server communication.
  • Develop camera streaming to transmit vehicle video to Mission Planner servers.
  • Use JSON, Protobuf, and custom message formats for system interoperability.
  • Collaborate across software, hardware, and domain teams on requirements, architecture, and integration.
  • Develop and maintain communication libraries, APIs, and drivers.
  • Test, debug, and optimize systems for reliability and stability; stay current with relevant technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of communication software development experience, preferably in robotics, automotive, or defense.
  • Strong C++ proficiency, object-oriented design knowledge, and extensive hands-on experience.
  • Expertise in ROS and familiarity with ROS concepts, tools, and frameworks.
  • Hands-on knowledge of MQTT, DDS, and other messaging frameworks; robot networking and real-time data transfer.
  • Experience integrating autonomous vehicles with Mission Planner servers and exchanging vehicle, mission, telemetry, and status information.
  • Proficiency with development workflows such as version control, build systems, and testing frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, independent-work, collaboration, and technical communication skills.
  • Prior robotics system development and deployment experience is highly desirable.
