Leads restaurant performance, daily operations, employee management, and guest experience.
Education and experience
- Either a high school diploma or GED plus four years of food and beverage, culinary, or related professional experience, or a relevant two-year degree plus two years of related experience.
- Relevant two-year degrees include Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major.
Restaurant business and marketing
- Assess local demand, community opportunities, and competitors; manage purchasing and inventory, negotiate supplier terms, and apply revenue strategies.
- Oversee the restaurant marketing plan, public relations, social media, event communications, and restaurant events.
Daily operations and guest experience
- Supervise operations, assist with menu planning, maintain sanitation, and support servers and hosts during peak periods.
- Maintain service, food handling, liquor control, legal compliance, restaurant presentation, and quality standards.
- Address guest concerns, gather feedback, model excellent service, and take corrective action to improve satisfaction.
People and financial management
- Manage hiring participation, staffing, performance standards, training, coaching, employee development, and retention.
- Oversee purchasing, invoices, departmental finances, and shift operations when the Assistant Restaurant Manager is absent.
- Build collaborative team relationships, communicate expectations and goals, analyze information, solve problems, and track industry trends.
