Resident Engineer – Data Center Delivery

Role overview

Implementation and migration

• Manage end-to-end implementation and migration activities for data center network and infrastructure projects.
• Deploy and support Cisco switches, routers, Cisco ACI Fabric, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Manage pre-checks, change approvals, implementation, service validation, and post-migration monitoring.
• Prepare and maintain schedules, MOPs, rollback plans, test plans, and as-built documentation; coordinate change requests with operations teams.

Site delivery and handover

• Participate in technical discussions, implementation planning, progress reviews, and site activities; coordinate access, DCCO, technical forms, and other site requirements.
• Perform and coordinate testing, commissioning, service validation, operational acceptance, and final handover.
• Support rack-and-stack, equipment installation, patching, labeling, and connectivity verification.
• Coordinate fiber and copper structured cabling, fiber trunks, patch panels, ODFs, SFPs, cable management, and testing.

Troubleshooting and coordination

• Troubleshoot switches, ACI Fabric, firewalls, load balancers, and external connectivity issues; lead troubleshooting and escalation during critical implementation windows.
• Coordinate network, security, data center operations, cabling, project, vendor, and third-party teams.
• Track progress, dependencies, risks, issues, and resource needs, and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
• Ensure work follows approved change management, security, data center, safety, and operational procedures.

Technical requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switches, routers, and data center networking, plus practical Cisco ACI Fabric experience.
• Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including VLAN, VRF, BGP, OSPF, STP, LACP, HSRP/VRRP, NAT, routing, switching, and IP addressing.
• Experience with firewalls such as Palo Alto, FortiGate, or similar platforms, and load balancers such as F5, Citrix ADC, or equivalent.
• Experience with fiber and copper cabling, patching, SFPs, and physical connectivity; knowledge of racks, PDU, UPS/DC systems, and cooling.
• Experience with large-scale data center implementation, migration, and network transformation projects.
• Knowledge of physical servers, VMs, and platforms such as VMware, OpenStack, and OpenShift.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-isolation skills.

Project and coordination skills

• Experience delivering data center network and infrastructure projects and coordinating technical teams, vendors, and third-party contractors.
• Understand technical dependencies, project risks, resources, and timelines; experience with high-availability and redundant network/security architectures.
• Strong documentation, reporting, communication, coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple activities independently.
• Knowledge of network automation and scripting is an advantage.
