Project Cost Controller - Finance

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Monitor project budgets, actual costs, commitments, expenditures, and performance against approved budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare cost and budget reports, variance analyses, financial dashboards, monthly forecasts, and management reports.
• Review purchase orders, invoices, material and subcontractor costs, and other project expenses; ensure correct project and cost-code allocation.
• Coordinate cost tracking with project managers, operations, procurement, and finance teams.
• Maintain accurate project cost records and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-complete calculations.
• Identify overspending, cost risks, budget overruns, and cost-control opportunities; recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor profitability, gross margins, revenue, and cost performance; review transactions and accounting allocations.
• Coordinate project invoices and payments with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Support month-end and year-end closing, project audits, and required supporting documentation.
• Maintain financial information and records in line with company policies and accounting standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in project cost control, project finance, management accounting, or financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, accounting principles, and financial controls.
• Experience monitoring project budgets, actual costs, commitments, and profitability.
• Excellent Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, numerical, communication, coordination, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent is advantageous; experience in project-based or construction, engineering, technology, data center, or infrastructure organizations is preferred.
