Job Description
The Department of Genetics and Genomics, College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant position in the area of rare disease genomics, research data systems, and bioinformatics support.
The successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary computational research environment.
Minimum Qualification
- Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field. - Experience in genomic or biomedical data handling and structured data management. - Practical experience with Python and database concepts such as SQL. - Familiarity with next-generation sequencing workflows and genomic analysis processes, including quality control, alignment, variant calling, annotation, and interpretation support.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience in rare disease genomics, Mendelian genomics, translational genomics, or biomedical research data systems. - Experience supporting internal research platforms, web-based dashboards, workflow tracking systems, or database-backed scientific applications. - Familiarity with AI-assisted tools for scientific data processing, summarization, and reporting.
Expected Skills
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in a clinical, research, biomedical, or data systems environment. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data curation, workflow tracking, and research documentation. - Ability to manage and organize family-level, sample-level, sequencing-level, and analysis-level information. - Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting involving clinical, computational, and research teams. - Good written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to prepare clear analytical summaries, reports, and structured documentation. Commitment to reproducible practices, organized data management, and responsible handling of research information.
