Patient care and coordination
- Provides and monitors direct and indirect patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
- Independently evaluates, plans, and implements individualized care plans and assists junior staff with this process.
- Coordinates care from first contact through the episode of care, including discharge planning and referrals.
- Completes patient admission assessments and collaborates with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provides supportive resources to patients and families and educates them about treatment plans and required care.
Medication and emergency care
- Prepares and administers medications under organizational policies and procedures; evaluates patient responses and identifies side effects.
- Safely handles and stores narcotic, controlled, semi-controlled, and high-alert medications in line with DHA requirements and medication rights.
- Responds to emergencies and reports adverse drug reactions and medication errors in accordance with DHA regulations and organizational policies.
Records, safety, and quality
- Maintains accurate and timely nursing records, documents assessments and interventions, and respects patient confidentiality.
- Reports patient-care complaints and incidents and assists with investigations under hospital policies.
- Contributes to audit, research, evidence-based practice, quality assurance, and continual improvement.
- Maintains and uses equipment and resources efficiently.

- Incorporates patients’ religious and cultural needs into care plans and involves family members where appropriate.
- Maintains patient courtesy, dignity, privacy, rights, and a supportive environment.
