QA Lead

Role overview

Automation and technical leadership

• Design, develop, and maintain Java and Selenium automation frameworks and automated functional, regression, and integration tests.
• Define automation strategy, standards, and best practices; review frameworks and improve test coverage.
• Code, debug, troubleshoot, conduct code reviews, and improve automation quality and maintainability.
• Find opportunities to expand automation coverage and reduce manual testing effort.

Team leadership

• Lead, mentor, and manage QA engineers and automation testers; allocate tasks, review deliverables, and monitor performance.
• Provide technical guidance, establish QA processes, and conduct knowledge-sharing and mentoring sessions.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of QA resources.

Testing and quality management

• Define test strategies and plans, review requirements, and identify testing risks and gaps.
• Plan and execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing; manage defects and coordinate resolution with development teams.
• Ensure test coverage and release readiness; track automation coverage, defect leakage, and test execution.

API, database, and CI/CD

• Perform API testing using Postman or REST Assured and develop automated API test cases.
• Validate integrations and backend processes and perform database validation using SQL.
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.
• Monitor automated test execution, troubleshoot pipeline failures, and support continuous testing.

Collaboration and reporting

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, project managers, and architects; participate in Agile ceremonies.
• Provide QA estimates, status reports, release-readiness updates, and communicate risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Support multiple projects when required.

Required experience and skills

• 8–10 years of overall QA/testing experience and strong hands-on Java and Selenium automation.
• Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks and at least 2 years of QA team or technical leadership.
• Experience mentoring and managing QA engineers, working in Agile environments, and handling enterprise applications and complex integrations.
• Required technologies include TestNG or JUnit, Maven or Gradle, API testing with Postman or REST Assured, SQL/database testing, Git, Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD, and Jira or similar.

Additional advantageous skills

• Selenium Grid; BrowserStack or Sauce Labs; Cucumber/BDD; Docker; Appium; performance testing; microservices and REST API architecture; cloud-based testing; enterprise applications.

Education

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
