Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pulsed Power Engineer to undertake the design, development, and optimization of high-voltage, high-current pulsed generators.

The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in pulsed power architecture such as Marx generators, SINUS-type generators, Blumlein lines, pulse forming networks (PFNs), or similar topologies, and is comfortable working at the intersection of electrical engineering, plasma physics, and advanced power electronics.

This is a practical R&D position requiring strong experimental skills and comfort working with high-energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high voltage (0.5-1MV range) and high current (1-20 kA) Marx generators, SINUS generators, PFNs, or other pulse-shaping networks.
  • Optimize pulse characteristics of existing generators for improved rise time, flat-top duration, jitter, repetition rate and energy efficiency.
  • Perform circuit simulation and transient analysis using tools such as LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent.
  • Select and qualify high-voltage components such as capacitors, spark gaps, solid-state switches, transmission lines).
  • Develop and implement high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Create detailed design documentation, schematics, and technical reports
  • Other duties related to the position.

Skills required for the job

  • Profound knowledge of high-power electronics, including design, fabrication, and testing of high-voltage pulsed power sources, components, and systems.
  • Experience working with kV–MV and kA-class systems.
  • Knowledge of HV diagnostics (Rogowski coils, HV dividers, fast current probes).
  • Strong background in high-voltage circuit design and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in simulation software for electronic circuits and system design (e.g., SPICE, LTspice, or similar).
  • Experience in transformer and coil winding techniques, with an understanding of the principles of magnetic design and high-voltage insulation.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage equipment testing, including the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, high-voltage probes, and insulation resistance testers.

Qualifications

  • To qualify for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements:
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field; or equivalent technical training and professional experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in high-voltage pulsed power sources, design and testing, after graduation.
  • Communication skills for working on a multidisciplinary team.
