Role overview

Welty Energy seeks a Project Manager for its Distribution Project Management team.

The role plans and coordinates engineering, design, procurement, and construction for major electric utility projects and programs, including substation and transmission upgrades.

The company provides project management, engineering, and construction oversight for electric utility projects across the Midwest, Northeast, and nationally.

Location and travel

  • The role must be based in Western Pennsylvania.
  • Travel to client sites is required, approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate stakeholders and serve as primary client contact throughout project lifecycles.
  • Review technical and construction documents for constructability and alignment with client standards.
  • Lead planning and status meetings; track schedules, finances, engineering, construction, and budgets.
  • Coordinate construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, site visits, walk-downs, submittals, and project documents.
  • Coordinate outages, permits, and approvals to avoid schedule conflicts and enable fieldwork.
  • Support portfolio managers with project and program coordination, preparation, and reporting.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and manage approved funding, resources, schedules, and activities.
  • Follow client policies and processes while focusing on stakeholder interaction and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or relevant electric utility project management experience.
  • Six to fourteen years of project management experience in the utility sector, such as electric power, substation, or transmission.
  • Electric utility project management experience is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective leadership and organizational skills.
