Project Leader Engineering Steelwork

Position summary

Project execution and engineering leadership

• Leads steelwork package delivery and manages work from detailed design through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and handover.
• Ensures designs satisfy operational, safety, maintenance, accessibility, project, regulatory, airport, and applicable international code requirements.
• Oversees interfaces with baggage handling equipment, electrical systems, controls, architecture, and civil works; supports constructability and practical cost-effective solutions.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary teams, acts as steelwork technical authority, reviews engineering outputs, and guides and mentors team members.
• Promotes engineering excellence, standardization, and continuous improvement.

Planning, coordination, and documentation

• Develops engineering execution plans and schedules, tracks deliverables, monitors progress, and identifies and mitigates technical risks.
• Coordinates with project managers, site managers, design teams, fabricators, subcontractors, procurement, construction, commissioning, and customers.
• Supports site work and resolves technical issues during fabrication and installation.
• Prepares and manages specifications, design reports, calculations, procedures, installation documents, and project records.
• Supports method statements, inspection and test plans, risk assessments, quality records, and regular progress and technical status reporting.

Budget, quality, and safety

• Monitors engineering budgets, resource use, and productivity; identifies cost optimizations and manages scope changes.
• Ensures compliance with company and project quality requirements and supports design risk assessments and HSE initiatives.
• Promotes a strong safety culture in design and site execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10 or more years of engineering experience in structural, civil, mechanical, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
• At least five years of experience in steel structures, industrial systems, airport infrastructure, material handling systems, or comparable large-scale projects.
• Demonstrated leadership of engineering activities for complex steelworks projects.
• Strong understanding of structural design principles, steel fabrication processes, and installation methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant structural design codes, standards, and regulations; able to balance quality, schedule, cost, scope, resources, and multiple priorities.
