The role manages control-engineering solutions and supports sales during bid and contract phases.
During execution, the engineer contributes to successful delivery of one or more projects in an international environment.
Controls engineering and project delivery
- Design and program PLC controls for airport material-handling systems to project quality requirements.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver functional specifications, detailed designs, PLC programming, and testing.
- Commission material-handling systems at customer sites and functionally test PLC hardware and software.
- Integrate PLC software into the overall control system and assist with customer acceptance testing.
- Monitor project budget and schedule and take appropriate action when needed.
Coordination and improvement
- Support sales during bid and contract phases.
- Communicate regular progress reports and manage deadlines and milestones, with awareness of Earned Value Management.
- Feed project lessons learned into products, processes, and tooling.
- Work with cross-functional, diverse, and global teams and help develop control competency in the department.
Education and experience
- Bachelor-level technical degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Control Technology, or a related listed field.
- At least eight years of experience in project engineering, system integration, solution design, or project delivery.
- Material-handling experience is an added advantage.
Technical qualifications
- Develop PLC applications with TIA Portal and Siemens S7-300/400 and S7-1500 series.
- Knowledge of design practices, qualification requirements, and systems development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of relevant SCADA platforms such as WinCC or WebFactory.
- Develop safety-system applications using a relevant platform, such as Siemens safety PLC.
- Knowledge of Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, AS-I, and CC-Link; Allen-Bradley or another PLC platform is an added advantage.

- Strong analytical skills and a proactive, flexible, pragmatic, hands-on approach.
- Adapt to change, multitask, and manage a variety of complex tasks.
- Strong verbal and written English skills.
