PROJECT DIRECTOR – RAIL DEPOTS & TERMINAL

Project and role

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery from design coordination and mobilisation through construction, commissioning support, and final handover.
• Direct civil, structural, and building works for depot workshops, maintenance facilities, operational buildings, yards, utilities, and external infrastructure.
• Manage budgets, cash flow, procurement, subcontractors, resources, and construction milestones.
• Coordinate civil interfaces with track, MEP, rail systems, depot equipment, and operational requirements.
• Lead client, consultant, JV partner, and authority coordination; ensure timely approvals and resolve delivery issues.
• Oversee contractual obligations, variations, claims, risk mitigation, and recovery programmes.
• Drive HSE, quality, and team performance across construction activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Typically 20+ years of construction experience, including 5+ years as Project Director or equivalent on major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated delivery of rail depots, maintenance workshops, or rail terminal facilities.
• Strong main-contractor experience with direct responsibility for budgets, subcontractors, and site execution.
• Proven knowledge of civil/structural works, building construction, and interfaces with railway systems.
• Strong contract administration, commercial management, and stakeholder leadership skills.
• UAE/GCC experience preferred; high-speed rail experience is an advantage.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
