Product Ownership
Inkitt hires product managers for four consumer products: Galatea, CandyJar, Ironblood, and Inkitt.
The product area is assigned when the employee starts based on the largest metric gap across the portfolio and may change as business priorities evolve.
The role is designed for people comfortable owning different product areas rather than one named surface for several years.
How the Role Works
The product manager owns an app or area end to end and generates ideas through daily research of competitors, the industry, and users.
Each product manager maintains a ranked Top 3 list of the highest-impact ideas for their area.
Ideas are pitched on one slide with a rough impact calculation and are evaluated against the expected business impact.
Once approved, the product manager owns specification, design, engineering, launch, and A/B testing.
Features are reviewed four weeks after launch against the impact predicted before development.
Performance is measured by how often the manager improves on their own Top 3 and by the realized impact of shipped work.
What You'll Do
- Own an app or area end to end, including its roadmap, backlog, revenue, and retention.
- Research competitors, the market, and users daily and maintain a ranked Top 3 of product ideas.
- Size opportunities, build impact cases, show the analysis, and defend forecasts.
- Pitch ideas, incorporate rejection and feedback, and return with sharper proposals.
- Drive approved work through specification, design, engineering, quality assurance, and launch.
- Design and run A/B tests, ramp them responsibly, and interpret results honestly.
- Publish wins and losses to the company and deliver the impact predicted for shipped work.
What You'll Bring
- 4–10 years of professional experience; the experience does not need to be under the product manager title.
- Experience in a business with frequent direct monetary transactions, such as subscriptions, in-app purchases, payments, pricing, marketplaces, live operations, or lifecycle marketing.
- Ability to size opportunities, build models, and write SQL or spreadsheet analyses independently.
- Evidence of moving toward product building rather than title progression.
- A self-started project, club, process, business, or team created without being assigned.
- Shipped work with measurable outcomes.
- Consumer product instinct and real UX judgment.
- Based in San Francisco and available to work onsite five days per week.
- Experience in high-frequency consumer content, virtual currency, live operations, mobile products, or a founder or first-employee role is a plus.
Workplace
- The role is based in San Francisco and is onsite five days per week.
What We'll Offer
- Benefits include a 401k plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, professional coaching, team-building events, and self-development resources.
- Employees receive free lunch in the office, access to Galatea and CandyJar, and other location-dependent wellness benefits.
Compensation
- Salary offers are determined by experience, skills, role alignment, internal equity, and market benchmarks.
- The company may hire this role at either Product Manager or Senior Product Manager level depending on experience.
