Role overview

Mid-level, hands-on role developing automotive accessories and vehicle-integrated products from concept through prototype to production.

Works with suppliers, OEM customers, and internal commercial teams on design, sourcing, engineering, testing, and launch.

Product design and engineering

  • Develop 3D CAD models and technical drawings for metal, plastic, and electronic-integrated automotive accessories.
  • Reverse-engineer from physical samples and scan data; prepare BOMs, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing-ready documentation.
  • Ensure designs meet DFM, DFA, and cost targets; coordinate prototype development and testing.

Technical sourcing

  • Work with procurement to identify global suppliers and evaluate technical capabilities and production feasibility.
  • Review injection-mold, die-cast, and sheet-metal tooling concepts; support RFQs with technical specifications.
  • Analyze supplier drawings and propose technical improvements.

Testing and validation

  • Plan and supervise validation for fitment, durability, vibration, and temperature.
  • Coordinate vehicle field testing and ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards where applicable.
  • Maintain approval and OEM submission documentation.

Coordination and cost

  • Liaise with marketing, warehouse, logistics, and after-sales teams; participate in OEM technical discussions when required.
  • Optimize product designs for cost, evaluate supplier cost breakdowns, and support engineering-based cost reduction and margin calculations.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
  • 4–8 years of experience in automotive product development or accessory engineering.
  • Hands-on 3D CAD experience using SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of injection molding, sheet metal, extrusion, and assembly processes.
  • Experience with international suppliers and practical understanding of automotive fitment and vehicle integration.

Preferred skills

  • Exposure to embedded electronics or accessory integration, including CAN, sensors, or lighting.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping such as 3D printing; knowledge of PPAP, FMEA, or APQP.
  • Familiarity with GCC compliance and regulatory requirements; strong Excel capability for cost and BOM analysis.
