Six-month contract, described as running until the end of March 2027.

Workplace and location

  • London-based role requiring two office days per week, ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • The role can only be worked within the UK, not overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial advice, support risk allocation, and identify aggregation, standardisation, and category efficiency opportunities.
  • Manage declarations of interest and robust procurement records; prepare award recommendations and obtain governance approvals.
  • Support supplier onboarding and mobilisation; track and report procurement savings, benefits, and value.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, governance boards, finance teams, and procurement colleagues; provide guidance and coaching.

Essential requirements

  • Proven experience leading regulated procurement exercises from strategy development through contract award.
  • Experience in utilities, transport, or public-sector environments; strong understanding of procurement regulations, governance, compliance, and PA23.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and competing priorities; experience preparing governance papers, approval submissions, and procurement recommendations.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Experience with e-sourcing and digital procurement platforms such as Medius or equivalent.

Desirable experience and qualification

  • MCIPS qualification or working towards accreditation is desirable.
  • Experience using CCS and other public-sector procurement frameworks is desirable.
  • Familiarity with services agreements and supporting legal contract reviews is desirable.
  • Previous rail operator or wider rail industry procurement experience is desirable.
