Procurement Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable local and international suppliers.
• Source materials and products against project specifications; compare quotations, technical offers, and commercial proposals.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other commercial conditions.
• Prepare purchase orders and procurement documents; coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Projects, Warehouse, and Finance.
• Review specifications, drawings, BOQs, and material requirements; follow up on supplier deliveries and communicate changes.
• Maintain supplier records, evaluate supplier performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure procured materials meet approved specifications and quality standards; coordinate inspections, certificates, and approvals.
• Keep accurate procurement records and support inventory planning and availability of critical materials.
• Resolve quality, delivery, shortage, and commercial issues; monitor market prices, lead times, availability, and supplier trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience; construction, mechanical engineering, steel, wire mesh, gabion, or infrastructure experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of technical materials and construction products, and experience dealing with local and international suppliers.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills; good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/procurement systems.
• Incoterms, shipping, logistics, and import-procedure knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple procurement requirements and work under pressure.
• Experience with gabion systems, wire mesh, steel products, fabrication materials, or infrastructure projects is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

• Salary is AED 5,000–8,000 per month, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
