Process Safety & Risk Engineer

Role overview

Safety studies and analysis

• Prepare COMAH, QRA, HEMP, ERP, FRA, and safety engineering design studies.
• Facilitate and scribe HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, PHSER, and SIMOPS workshops.
• Prepare parts counts and inventory calculations.
• Model consequences and frequencies using event trees, fault trees, PHAST, FRED, or equivalent tools.
• Conduct EERA, ESSA, and Bowtie analyses and develop performance standards.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses and provide actionable client insights.

Project, compliance, and safety duties

• Develop technical reports and risk documentation; coordinate with environment and engineering teams.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits and ensure compliance with UAE regulations and international standards.
• Analyze incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide risk guidance during project planning and operations; contribute to safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
• Lead HSE training, communicate with regulatory authorities, and oversee emergency preparedness and response planning.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with global safety and risk engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of safety and risk engineering experience; HSE consulting experience is preferred.
• Proven experience with industry-standard safety studies, modeling tools, and workshop facilitation.
• Strong technical writing and data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of UAE and international HSE regulations and standards.
