Role overview

Own product strategy for AI evaluation and governance capabilities that assess AI system quality and safety before and after deployment.

Turn assessments into risk and compliance reporting that business leaders can use to govern the bank's expanding AI footprint.

Partner closely with engineering, risk, and compliance stakeholders as technology and regulation evolve.

Product strategy and delivery

  • Own the multi-year roadmap, lead discovery and requirements definition, and prioritize investment against business risk, regulatory need, and adoption.
  • Balance near-term compliance needs with long-term platform investment and evaluate build, buy, and partner options.
  • Partner with engineering, architecture, and project management on feasibility, sequencing, funded work, delivery, scope decisions, and replanning.
  • Represent the product area in architecture reviews, governance forums, vendor evaluations, and discussions with risk, audit, compliance, and senior leaders.
  • Define value messaging, target personas, success metrics, and business-case inputs with partners.
  • Build and lead a team of product managers and develop consistent product practices.

Must-have qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including several years in risk, compliance, safety, or governance technology.
  • Enterprise production AI/ML delivery experience, including hands-on LLM API integration and ownership of testing, evaluation, or monitoring for quality and risk.
  • Regulated-industry experience with direct exposure to audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Technical knowledge of system design, API integration patterns, data pipelines, and vector database or RAG architecture.
  • Strong communication skills with senior executives and engineering teams.
  • Technical university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Additional qualifications

  • People leadership, automated regulatory or audit tooling, shared interfaces across engineering teams, AI safety, model risk, AI/ML evaluation, and observability experience are desirable.
  • Familiarity with OSFI Guideline E-23, NIST AI RMF, SR 26-2, or ISO/IEC 42001 is desirable; familiarity with the direction of frameworks is sufficient.

About RBC AI Group

RBC's AI Group helps scale AI opportunities and research into generative and agentic AI while advancing security, responsible AI, and regulatory readiness.
