Role Overview
The role reports to the Chief Digital & Information Officer and is part of the small leadership group establishing GBE’s digital function.
The postholder chairs the Architecture Review Board and acts as GBE’s design authority, assuring proposals before they reach the Digital Investment Governance Committee.
This greenfield mandate includes an approved budget and authority to build a small architecture team; foundational security standards and core technology work are already underway.

Key responsibilities
- Review and take ownership of establishment-phase architecture decisions, confirming or adjusting recommendations and carrying them into delivery.
- Set foundational cloud, productivity, collaboration and identity technology choices and lead the move away from inherited shared services.
- Establish the Architecture Review Board and Technical Design Authority and publish architecture principles, standards and target-state architecture.
- Create an enterprise capability and operating-model view tied to the target-state roadmap.
- Recruit an architecture team and build the practice; contribute hands-on to delivery.
- Set partner-framework architecture requirements and assure major systems and data-platform deliveries.
- Establish data and AI patterns for responsible adoption and scalable products; oversee GBE’s digital landscape and demonstrate value.
Qualifications and experience
- Hands-on architect willing to govern and personally deliver key parts of the platform.
- Senior enterprise or chief architect with experience in complex, fast-moving organizations and building an architecture practice from the ground up.
- Track record delivering target-state designs as working platforms across cloud, modern workplace and collaboration, identity and access, integration, and core systems such as ERP and CRM.
- Experience chairing architecture review boards or equivalent and assuring major designs and investment proposals in a way that supports delivery.
- Strong commercial perspective, including whole-life value, reuse and interoperability.
