Role summary

Lead practical delivery planning for the organisation's Post-Quantum Cryptography programme; this is not a research role.

Translate NCSC expectations into implementation plans, identify required changes across a complex technology estate, and guide engineering delivery teams.

Develop realistic roadmaps, migration patterns, prioritisation approaches, and technical guidance that enable migration with minimal operational risk.

What you'll do

  • Lead PQC and cryptographic agility delivery planning, with migration plans aligned to NCSC milestones and business priorities.
  • Discover cryptographic dependencies across applications, infrastructure, cloud, networks, PKI, and third-party services; identify quantum-vulnerable technologies and prioritise remediation by risk.
  • Create reusable migration patterns, reference architectures, and implementation playbooks, including approaches for certificates, TLS, authentication, signatures, VPNs, and key management.
  • Assess vendor readiness and challenge supplier roadmaps with the TPRM team.
  • Support engineering through design reviews, pilots, and technical decisions; produce executive updates, investment recommendations, and risk assessments.
  • Explain complex technical matters to senior stakeholders and governance forums.

What you'll bring

  • Extensive experience as a senior security architect in a large enterprise; an engineering background is likely.
  • Proven delivery of complex security or infrastructure transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of PKI and certificate management, TLS and cryptographic protocols, key management and HSMs, identity and authentication platforms, and cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Experience developing enterprise roadmaps and implementation strategies; strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to influence multiple technology teams without direct authority.

Highly desirable experience

  • Previous PQC or crypto-agility programme experience is highly desirable.
  • Financial services or critical national infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
  • The source begins to mention experience with large application portfolios, but the description is cut off.
