The Plant Chemist analyzes incoming dore and process samples to determine precious metal content and supports plant refining operations.
Laboratory analysis and equipment
- Perform fire assay, cupellation, and instrumental analysis of dore and process samples.
- Operate and maintain ICP-OES, AAS, and XRF equipment, including regular calibration and downtime prevention.
- Generate certified assay certificates and maintain LIMS records for traceability and compliance.
Process and custody support
- Provide analytical data to refining operators to help optimize acid usage and metal recovery.
- Reconcile laboratory sample weights with vault records to maintain chain of custody for precious metal flows.
Safety and compliance
- Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals and laboratory waste in line with environmental permits and HSE policies.
- Maintain laboratory documentation and calibration logs for internal and external audits, including ISO 17025 assessments.
Shift coverage
- Work rotating shifts to provide continuous laboratory support and respond to urgent sampling needs.
