About EDGE

EDGE is a UAE-based advanced technology group working in defence and emerging technologies.

Role overview

Carry out rubber lay-up operations on solid rocket motor components under direct supervision, following step-by-step work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Apply rubber and elastomeric insulation sheet to motor case components using work instructions and lay-up sequence sheets.
  • Assist with surface preparation, including wiping down, masking, and supporting primer application.
  • Cut insulation sheet to template dimensions and position plies carefully to avoid contamination, tears, or dimensional errors.
  • Roll, press, and consolidate plies to remove air entrapment and achieve full contact with the substrate.
  • Assist the Thermal Insulation Technician with curing, component loading and retrieval, and cure log sheets.
  • Check for obvious surface defects, incomplete coverage, or lifted edges and report concerns.
  • Handle and store materials according to instructions, shelf-life labels, and material safety requirements; report damaged or expired stock.
  • Keep the workstation clean and hazard-free, follow HSE and PPE rules, and report spills, near-misses, or unsafe conditions.

Basic qualifications

  • No prior rubber or insulation experience is required.
  • Any background in hands-on manufacturing, production, or workshop work.
  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions in the working language.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior exposure to manual fabrication, materials handling, or process-following in an industrial or workshop setting is preferred.
  • A vocational or trade qualification in manufacturing, materials, or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic chemical handling awareness training is an advantage.

Benefits and development

  • Depending on role and seniority, benefits may include family visas, annual flight tickets, medical insurance, and education allowances.
  • Employees have access to learning opportunities through the EDGE learning academy and digital learning platforms.

Workplace and safety

  • The work involves hands-on lay-up operations on components and use of a workstation, ovens, or press tools.
  • Follow HSE rules and PPE requirements, including those for chemical handling.

Language

  • English proficiency is required for all roles unless otherwise stated in the job posting.
