About This Role

Provide operational support for network infrastructure across multiple locations, optimizing Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. Implement and manage firewall policies with FortiGate and Forcepoint NGFWs, and manage VPN solutions for secure access. Oversee FortiMail Secure Email Gateway, preventing phishing, malware, and spoofing. Monitor and respond to threats using tools like FortiSandbox and Forcepoint Web Proxy, conducting forensic analysis and ensuring system integrity. Plan and execute proactive maintenance, upgrades, and security hardening, while evaluating and recommending new technologies like NGFW, SD-WAN, and NAC.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Configure and support Cisco switches and routers (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR) in live enterprise environments.

• Troubleshoot and maintain Layer 2 protocols: VLANs, 802.1Q trunking, STP (PVST+/RSTP/MST), EtherChannel (LACP/PAgP).

• Configure and support Layer 3 routing protocols: OSPF (LSA types, areas), EIGRP (DUAL process, metrics), and BGP (eBGP/iBGP, route filtering).

• Manage inter-VLAN routing using SVIs and router-on-a-stick configurations.

• Configure and troubleshoot HSRP, VRRP, GLBP for default gateway redundancy.

• Implement and maintain ACLs, NAT/PAT (static, dynamic, overload) for traffic control and internet access.

• Troubleshoot WAN connectivity using MPLS, GRE tunnels, and IPsec VPN (IKEv1/IKEv2, Phase 1 & Phase 2).

• Work with DHCP, DNS relay, and NTP synchronization across network devices .

• Monitor network using SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, SPAN/RSPAN and analyze traffic using Wireshark.

• Secure access-layer switches using Port Security, DHCP Snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI), BPDU Guard.

• Perform troubleshooting using Cisco IOS CLI debugging (debug IP OSPF, debug IP BGP, show spanning-tree, show IP route).

• Perform IOS upgrades, configuration backups, and recovery of Cisco network devices.

• Work on Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) including policy configuration, NAT rules, SD-WAN, VPNs (IPsec/SSL), and security profiles.

• Respond to incidents such as packet loss, routing issues, high latency, interface errors (CRC, duplex mismatch), and firewall blocking issues.

• Maintain and update network topology diagrams, device inventories, and configuration backups.

• Utilize SolarWinds NOC monitoring for real time network performance analysis, SNMP polling, and

alert management.

• Troubleshoot and resolve SMTP relay issues, email encryption policies, and public domain IP

blacklisting concerns.
