IP Core L3 Network Engineer

About This Role

Requirements:

· Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience in Core / ISP networking environments.

· Must currently be based in the UAE.

· Certification in CCNP Enterprise and CCNP Security will be given priority.

· Strong hands-on experience with routers and switches – primarily Cisco devices (H3C is an advantage).

· Expert-level troubleshooting skills including:

o Packet capture and deep packet inspection (Wireshark)

o MTU / MSS tuning and optimization

o TCP session analysis

o Root cause analysis in complex ISP networks

· Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with core routing protocols:

o Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)

o Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) (ISP-level preferred)

o Route redistribution and policy control

· Experience with First Hop Redundancy and load-balancing protocols:

o Gateway Load Balancing Protocol (GLBP)

o Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)

o Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP)

· Advanced Layer 2 expertise including:

o Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)

o Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP)

o REP

o PPPoE

o Storm control

o VLAN segmentation and broadcast domain design

· Strong ISP-level technology experience:

o Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)

o Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS)

o Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS)

· Hands-on experience with firewalls:

o Fortinet (FortiGate)

o pfSense

· Advanced knowledge of security technologies:

o IPsec

o SSL VPN

o Access Control Lists (ACLs)

o Network hardening and best practices

· Strong understanding of network performance optimization:

o Quality of Service (QoS)

o Traffic shaping

o Bandwidth management

· Experience with network monitoring tools:

o SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor

o LibreNMS

o PRTG Network Monitor

· Good knowledge of transmission media:

o Fibre (SM/MM)

o Ethernet

o GPON / XGPON

o Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM)

o Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM)

· Good knowledge of Wi-Fi routers and related troubleshooting.

· Experience with 5GHz outdoor wireless devices (preferred).

· Strong leadership and team management skills.

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

· Ability to work under pressure in mission-critical ISP environments.

Job Responsibilities:

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and topology maps.

· Design, implement, and optimize core network architecture ensuring high availability and scalability.

· Configure and deploy network devices and services including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, QoS, and load balancing solutions.

· Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including firmware updates, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.

· Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability to meet SLA commitments.

· Conduct system resource utilization monitoring, traffic trending, and capacity planning.

· Plan and execute advanced technical activities, influencing technical direction and providing expert guidance to team members.

· Investigate and resolve complex ISP network issues using structured troubleshooting methodologies.

· Perform packet-level diagnostics and deep technical analysis when required.

· Ensure accurate case recording in the company’s ticket management system and close within agreed timeframes.

· Take ownership of ad-hoc technical projects to enhance service delivery capabilities.

· Support the wider team through knowledge sharing, documentation, and contribution to technical meetings.

· Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers.

Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
