Role overview

Supports Defence Research and Development Canada in research, development, analysis, and evaluation of military systems and capabilities using physics-based digital modelling, simulation, verification, and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Create, test, verify, validate, improve, and document physics-based digital models of platforms, decoys, missiles, sensors, and military and environmental components.
  • Use modelling and simulation tools for engagement scenarios and military-system evaluation.
  • Apply formal verification and validation processes and support simulation execution and analysis.
  • Assist experimental data collection and use measured data to improve model fidelity.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports on methods, simulation results, and findings.
  • Maintain modelling and simulation capabilities and support project-partner knowledge transfer and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in physics, engineering physics, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • At least 24 months creating physics-based digital models.
  • At least 24 months of MATLAB and 24 months of Simulink experience.
  • At least 6 months with verification and validation processes.
  • At least 3 months executing and analyzing simulations.

Location and travel

  • The posting lists Quebec City, QC, and states that the role is not remote.
  • Travel in Canada or internationally may be required for data gathering, test setups, knowledge transfer, or presentations.

Additional requirements

Security clearance requirements depend on assigned work and may range from Reliability to SECRET or NATO SECRET.
