Role overview

Data platform and pipelines

• Design and maintain Microsoft Fabric solutions, including OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflow Gen2, notebooks and Spark jobs.
• Integrate enterprise systems, databases, APIs and approved external platforms; develop Bronze, Silver and Gold layers using Medallion Architecture.
• Transform data with SQL, Python and PySpark, applying Delta and Parquet formats and dimensional modelling.
• Build automated validation, reconciliation, duplicate detection, completeness and exception controls.

Security, operations and delivery

• Optimise SQL, Spark, storage, refresh schedules and Fabric capacity; monitor, alert on and support platform operations.
• Apply RBAC, row-level security and Microsoft Entra ID; implement governance for lineage, ownership, privacy, auditability and controlled sharing.
• Manage Git-based development, CI/CD and deployments across Development, Test and Production environments.
• Troubleshoot failures, data quality and performance issues; conduct root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Collaborate across business and technical teams, support enterprise application integrations, and develop Power BI data models and datasets.
• Document architecture, mappings, transformations, security, deployment and operations; support reviews, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Experience and technical qualifications

• Typically 5+ years in data engineering, data platforms or analytics engineering, or equivalent complex-solution experience.
• Typically 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, or closely related Azure data services experience that can be applied to Fabric.
• Strong Fabric knowledge and advanced SQL and Python/PySpark proficiency; production-grade ETL/ELT and analytical data product experience.
• Knowledge of Medallion Architecture, dimensional modelling, semantic models, Delta and Parquet, Lakehouse architecture, partitioning and data lifecycle management.
• Experience integrating REST APIs, databases, files and enterprise applications; knowledge of Azure data services and Power BI semantic models.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment, performance tuning, monitoring, incident management and data quality.
• Understanding of RBAC, RLS, Microsoft Entra ID, data lineage and auditability.

Education and advantages

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Dynamics 365, Microsoft Customer Insights or Customer 360 familiarity is an advantage.
• Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate, relevant Azure or Power BI certification is advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication; able to work independently and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
