Merchandising responsibilities
- Plan merchandising strategies to balance customer expectations and company objectives; analyze sales, customer reactions, and market trends.
- Coordinate with buyers, suppliers, distributors, and analysts on prices, quantities, and time scales.
- Display products according to planograms; plan store layouts and maintain shelves and inventory.
- Forecast sales, profits, and budgets; monitor stock movement, markdowns, promotions, price changes, and clear-outs.

Retail transactions
- Accurately process sales using cash registers, scanners, or other equipment; accept cash, checks, and bank cards.
- Process payments, provide change, issue receipts, calculate discounts, and handle refunds, credits, returns, and exchanges.
- Redeem food stamps and coupons; maintain change, balance sales and receipts, and keep transaction records.
