Job Description
Saab is seeking motivated engineering students for a paid Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineer Internship in West Lafayette.
The Production Support and Design Organization supports production processes, design improvements, and new design opportunities.
The internship provides hands-on experience in aircraft design and production under the guidance of senior engineers.
Intern Responsibilities
- Complete a department-assigned internship project with deliverables and operational impact.
- Partner with an assigned mentor to obtain feedback and direction as needed.
- Contribute to production and design of the T-7 trainer by evaluating production non-conformances and developing potential design solutions.
- Gain experience with the functions and specialties involved in aircraft design and production.
- Demonstrate Saab's values of Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.
Skills and Experience
- Enrollment in an accredited engineering or related degree program is required.
- Applicants must have completed freshman year or greater at the time of hire.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better is required.
- Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong teamwork, communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, self-direction, and willingness to learn are expected.
Citizenship and Screening
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Compensation
- Compensation is $21 to $24 per hour based on prior intern experience.
