Mechanical Engineer

Role overview

Site delivery and coordination

• Supervise site mechanical works, including HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documents before execution.
• Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP services.
• Monitor subcontractor activities, manpower, materials, productivity, and mechanical progress against the construction schedule.
• Identify site issues, clashes, discrepancies, and technical problems; coordinate resolutions and respond to RFIs and technical queries.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, project management, procurement, and site teams.

Inspections, commissioning, and handover

• Inspect completed installations and coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and approvals.
• Prepare and follow up on Inspection Requests, Material Inspection Requests, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, and balancing of mechanical systems and ensure required records are completed.
• Review as-built drawings and support handover with O&M manuals, testing reports, and commissioning records.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience; high-rise building construction experience is preferred.
• UAE or GCC construction industry experience is preferred.
• Relevant engineering certification or registration is preferred.

Technical knowledge and skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, ventilation, and fire protection systems.
• Experience in MEP coordination and site supervision; knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Good knowledge of QA/QC procedures, testing, commissioning, handover, and construction-site health and safety requirements.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and relevant engineering or MEP software is requested.

Working skills

• Strong site supervision, problem-solving, coordination, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Able to manage subcontractors, interpret engineering drawings and specifications, work under pressure, and meet project deadlines.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
