Mechanical Design Engineer - Drilling Tools

Position Overview

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for complex matters requiring innovation and new engineering methods and techniques.
• Utilize advanced engineering calculations for design or analytical projects.
• Create design layouts and detailed component drawings.
• Create component and system level test plans and test fixtures.
• Perform validation testing and conduct design iterations as required.
• Develop accurate and complete documentation of data and project results.
• Write reports drawing appropriate conclusions from project results.
• Recommend purchase of material and equipment after analysis of available sources.
• Work with personnel in other departments and disciplines to complete project assignments.
• Maintain and expand knowledge of industry trends and new technologies.
• Complete assignments using established design tools and procedures without significant supervision.
• Develop action plans for new projects defined by supervisor and recommend areas for improvement.

Qualifications

• B.S. or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 5 years of related design knowledge/experience is preferred.
• Experience with downhole drilling tools is preferred.
• Must be proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software and able to create and/or modify complex models, parts, and assemblies.
• FEA experience is preferred.
• Must be a self-starter and comfortable with hands-on assembly and testing.
