Role overview

Teaching and learning

• Create a learning climate conducive to strong teaching and learning practice.
• Set clear teaching objectives, challenging tasks, demanding expectations, and targets based on prior attainment.
• Identify students with special educational needs or high ability and differentiate instruction to meet their needs.
• Structure lessons to maintain pace, motivation, challenge, and interest.
• Use assessment for learning and performance data to plan differentiated lessons.
• Maintain discipline under the Behaviour for Learning Policy and promote punctuality, appropriate behavior, quality work, and homework.
• Use varied teaching strategies, effective questioning, suitable resources, ICT, and learning technologies to present key ideas and develop study skills.
• Review learning-objective outcomes and use findings to improve teaching.
• Mark student work at least once every two weeks and set progress targets.

Assessment and professional duties

• Assess and record student progress systematically, monitor strengths and development needs, and use records to inform planning.
• Assess students according to examination-body, departmental, and school procedures.
• Prepare informative reports for parents.
• Contribute to subject development by producing, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work.
• Keep subject knowledge current through professional development and reading, and attend relevant workshops.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by the Principal or Vice Principal.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, or a bachelor’s degree in a related subject with a PGCE or other teacher qualification.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience in the related field.
• Experience with students for whom English is an additional language.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities and commitment to an extensive enrichment program.
• Passionate and caring educator who respects the school community and brings a positive, solution-focused attitude.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service or Police check.
