Teaching and assessment

• Create a positive climate for learning, identify clear objectives, set challenging tasks and expectations, and build targets on prior attainment.
• Identify students with special educational needs or high ability and differentiate instruction to meet their needs.
• Structure lessons to maintain pace, motivation, and challenge; use varied strategies, effective questioning, and suitable learning resources.
• Use assessment for learning, performance data, and key indicators to plan and improve differentiated teaching.
• Maintain discipline and promote punctuality, appropriate behavior, high work standards, and homework completion.
• Assess learning objectives, mark student work at least once every two weeks, set progress targets, and maintain systematic student records.
• Conduct assessments as required by examination bodies and school procedures, and report to parents.
• Develop and update curriculum plans and schemes of work; maintain subject knowledge through professional development and reading.
• Attend professional development workshops and undertake additional duties as directed by the Principal or Vice Principal.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biology, or a related subject with a PGCE or other teacher qualification.
• At least two years’ teaching experience in the related field.
• Experience with the American curriculum.
• Experience teaching students for whom English is an additional language.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services or police check.
