Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Marine Engineering.
Experience and technical requirements
- At least 15 years of marine civil engineering experience, with a strong background in port and coastal facility planning and design, particularly in oil and gas.
- Comprehensive understanding of port planning, facility layouts, and ship operations.
- Hands-on experience managing mooring analysis or hydrodynamic studies for port and coastal engineering projects.
- Proficiency with relevant software tools and modelling techniques for port and coastal facility planning and design.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, including ISO, OCIMF, PIANC, ISGOTT, ASCE, ACI, AASHTO, and Qatar National Construction Standards.
Key accountabilities
- Lead engineering studies for a new port within an oil and gas plant and ensure alignment with project objectives and applicable standards.
- Manage external contractor study delivery, check compliance, and technically review deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance on port design, coastal engineering, and marine structures.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary input and manage engineering-study budgets and schedules.
- Execute project stage gates to progress the study toward FEED and EPC.
- Support procurement with contract scopes, terms and conditions, bid evaluation, and related deliverables.
- Lead stakeholder meetings and prepare reports and documentation.
- Conduct preliminary site, environmental, and economic feasibility assessments.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
