About the role

What you’ll do

• Lead and develop software developers, set goals, and build a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
• Set architecture for crawling, collection, and mention-matching systems; translate client needs into a technical roadmap.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness; develop an evaluation framework for AI agents.
• Oversee incident response, on-call processes, and production root-cause analysis.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on problem solving; evaluate tools and AI techniques.

What you’ll bring

• 7+ years of software development experience, including web crawling, data ingestion, or large-scale data pipelines; 2+ years managing or leading software developers.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Java or similar type-safe language background; experience designing distributed systems, including message queues or streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Cloud infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or Solr and Boolean query logic; experience with APIs and third-party data providers.
• Agile experience and JIRA and Confluence; clear communication, metric-driven decisions, and a focus on team growth and well-being.
• NLP, LLMs, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, PR software, media monitoring, social listening, or newswire experience is an asset.

Work environment

• The role is fully remote.

Compensation

• Expected compensation is CAD 145,000–165,000 annually; the final offer depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.
