Core responsibilities
- Receive, disassemble, clean, inspect, and test contaminated equipment according to established protocols.
- Decontaminate and distribute reusable medical devices for direct patient care.
- Operate and test washer-disinfectors, dryers, sterilizers, and other decontamination equipment; report results that do not meet requirements.
- Check cleanliness and completeness before distribution to wards, departments, and theatres.
- Perform daily equipment validation tests and document activities and results.
- Issue sterile supplies, maintain holding stock, and assist with restocking.
- Test reusable medical-device functionality and record results for compliance, audit, and analysis.
- Receive and document goods, verify delivery notes, and record non-conformance.
- Communicate with colleagues and customers, including senior staff, and perform assigned clerical tasks.
- Follow safety procedures, minimize hazards, report incidents and injuries, and attend mandatory training.
Qualifications and requirements
- Valid DOH/DHA license or eligibility as a CSSD Technician to work in the UAE.
- At least 5 years of CSSD Technician experience in a JCI-accredited hospital facility.
- Associate degree or diploma in CSSD technology from a course of at least two years.
- Home-country licenses and registrations are required.
- Certification as a member of CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required.
- Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization principles, medical-device reprocessing, and quality assurance.
