Role overview

The role develops and improves maintenance for mechanical systems and advanced automated manufacturing equipment.

Equipment includes cam-controlled forming and assembly machines and plastic injection molding machines, including mechanical systems, clamping units, and cooling systems.

Maintenance and reliability

  • Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure equipment reliability and production continuity.
  • Analyze downtime, MTBF, MTTR, and failure modes; implement corrective and preventive actions to improve availability.
  • Lead RCA, A3, and 5 Why investigations into mechanical failures and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Optimize inspection routines, lubrication strategies, wear-part replacement, and overhaul intervals.
  • Use equipment condition data, wear analysis, and failure trends to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Improve machine lifetime, reduce breakdowns, and stabilize manufacturing processes.

Equipment and collaboration

  • Own mechanical performance of cam-controlled forming and assembly machines and injection molding equipment.
  • Collaborate with production, toolmaking, and engineering teams to improve machine stability, cycle-time consistency, and process performance.
  • Support commissioning and industrialization to ensure equipment is robust, maintainable, and ready for serial production.
  • Guide maintenance technicians in troubleshooting complex mechanical issues without taking over execution.
  • Work with toolmakers, engineers, and OEMs on technical issues, improvements, and equipment upgrades.

Standards and documentation

  • Standardize maintenance processes and documentation and ensure consistent application of technical guidelines.
  • Define data-driven maintenance plans and standards for mechanical components.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, automation engineering, mechatronics, or a similar qualification; mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation and metal stamping, bending, and welding industries.
  • Knowledge of cam-controlled machines such as Bihler, Wafios, or Finzer; Bihler is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD, SPS, and HMI systems; programming skills are advantageous.
  • Quick comprehension, continuous learning, and willingness to work shifts.

What Eaton offers

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
