Lead Software Engineer - Financial Services

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Own ambiguous problems from discovery through design, build, launch, and iteration across backend, APIs, data, and frontend.
• Find and fix merchant-flow, reconciliation, and service-scaling gaps.
• Shape product direction with Product, Design, Risk, and Compliance; challenge requirements and bring data to decisions.
• Lead architecture for money-handling systems, including idempotency, consistency, auditability, security, and observability.
• Use AI tools and agents, support team adoption, and identify and build AI product and workflow improvements.
• Mentor engineers and raise design-review and code-review quality.
• Choose languages, frameworks, and platforms based on the problem.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience and a record of shipping and owning production systems.
• Full-stack ability across backend services, data models, and usable frontend development.
• Experience across multiple languages and technology stacks, and ability to learn new ones quickly.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants, agents, and LLM APIs, with informed views on where they help.
• Strong systems thinking across distributed systems, APIs, databases, and trade-offs.
• Product mindset, clear communication, high ownership, and comfort with ambiguity.

Preferred experience

• Fintech, payments, lending, or regulated-domain experience, including PCI DSS, SAMA, or similar, is a plus.
• AI-powered product experience such as LLM integrations, RAG, agents, or evaluation is a plus.
• Cloud infrastructure and DevOps experience, including containers, CI/CD, or observability, is a plus.
• B2B or merchant-facing product experience is a plus.
