Role Description

The Lead English Teacher – Primary Department is a full-time, on-site role based at Elite Private School in Abu Dhabi.

This role oversees English instruction for primary grades, including designing and delivering engaging lessons that align with curriculum standards and school values.

The Lead English Teacher will mentor and support other English teachers, coordinate lesson planning and assessment, and ensure consistent instructional quality across the department.

Day-to-day responsibilities include teaching classes, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, monitoring student progress, and maintaining accurate records.

The role also involves collaborating with leadership and colleagues, participating in school events, and contributing to ongoing curriculum development and improvement in English language teaching.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong English Teaching and Teaching skills, with proven experience in primary education.
  • Candidates should possess Lesson Planning and Education skills, including the ability to design age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned learning activities.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Relevant teaching license or certification, and a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in leading or coordinating a department or team of teachers is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and support student progress.
  • Familiarity with international school standards and culturally responsive teaching practices is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to a dynamic school environment, and uphold high professional and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Primary English Department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop English teachers through lesson observations, feedback, and professional development.
  • Monitor curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress in line with ADEK requirements and the school's academic standards.
  • Promote innovative and engaging teaching practices to improve student outcomes.
  • Analyze assessment data and implement targeted improvement strategies.
  • Ensure consistency in lesson planning, classroom practice, and assessment across the Primary Section.
  • Support school improvement initiatives, inspections, and quality assurance processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Section, and other subject leaders.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student achievement and wellbeing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in English or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
  • Minimum
  • 5 years of Primary English teaching experience
  • , with leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the British Curriculum and ADEK requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor teachers and improve teaching and learning.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
