About the role

Serve as the enterprise governance architect and primary practitioner for Kapitus's Enterprise Data Governance program.

Balance enterprise framework design, functional leadership, and hands-on operationalization as a senior individual contributor.

Support data modernization, BI, analytics, Finance, Risk, regulatory reporting, and responsible AI through trusted and traceable data.

Governance framework and stewardship

  • Architect and operationalize an evidence-based, defensible, and audit-ready Enterprise Data Governance framework.
  • Develop standards, procedures, decision rights, intake processes, escalation paths, reporting, issue tracking, and evidence practices.
  • Design the enterprise stewardship model for Business Data Owners, Business Data Stewards, and Technical Data Custodians.
  • Develop stewardship playbooks, training, working sessions, and domain governance forums.
  • Support the VP of Data Governance and BI with Enterprise Data Governance Council materials and outcome tracking.

Metadata and data quality

  • Lead design and ongoing curation of the Enterprise Business Glossary in Atlan.
  • Define processes for business-term definition, review, approval, publication, and maintenance.
  • Establish standards for critical data elements, metadata, documentation, lineage, semantic models, KPIs, reports, and regulatory metrics.
  • Define the Data Quality framework, including dimensions, rules, thresholds, profiling, monitoring, issue management, and remediation.
  • Maintain a Data Quality risk register with findings, impacts, owners, remediation actions, and status.

Lifecycle and analytical asset governance

  • Establish standards for data classification, sensitivity, criticality, retention, archiving, disposal, and lifecycle evidence.
  • Lead development of the Enterprise Data Retention Standard with Legal, Compliance, Security, Risk, and business stakeholders.
  • Define governance expectations and certification criteria for datasets, data products, dashboards, reports, semantic models, and analytical assets.
  • Help embed governance requirements into Snowflake, dbt, BI, analytics, data modeling, and data-delivery processes.

Technology and AI governance

  • Serve as functional owner for Atlan and define requirements for governance workflows, metadata standards, stewardship processes, and automation.
  • Partner with the Lead Data Governance Platform Engineer on configuration, integrations, automation, enhancements, and adoption.
  • Support risk-based governance requirements for analytical models, machine learning, generative AI, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Partner with control and technical teams on model and AI inventories, ownership, documentation, data-use review, lineage, monitoring, and lifecycle controls.

What we are looking for

  • At least 10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or related data disciplines.
  • Success building, implementing, or significantly maturing enterprise Data Governance capabilities in a modern data environment.
  • Experience developing stewardship programs, governance operating models, policies, standards, workflows, and forums.
  • Expertise in business glossaries, metadata management, data cataloging, data lineage, and governance operating processes.
  • Experience designing federated stewardship models involving business owners, stewards, and technical custodians.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Quality frameworks, profiling, monitoring, issue management, root cause analysis, and remediation.
  • Experience with classification, retention, archival, disposal, lifecycle management, and certification practices.
  • Modern data and analytics experience including Snowflake, dbt, Tableau, Power BI, and Sigma.
  • Atlan experience, DAMA DMBOK2 familiarity, CDMP certification, regulated-environment experience, and financial-industry experience are preferred.

Compensation

  • The competitive base salary range is $117,800 to $189,000.
  • Annual incentive compensation eligibility is up to 10%.

Benefits

  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life, voluntary insurance, paid parental leave, commuter benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) match.
  • Kapitus offers tuition reimbursement of up to $5,000 annually, travel reimbursement, learning opportunities, and employee discount programs.
