Set up, operate, and maintain manual lathes to shape metal, wood, or plastic components to technical drawings and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Configure and operate lathes for turning, boring, facing, drilling, and threading operations.
- Read blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
- Use precision instruments to verify finished parts.
- Perform routine maintenance, resharpen tools, and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust speeds and feeds to correct inaccuracies.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proven experience as a lathe operator or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Proficiency in reading technical blueprints and understanding material properties.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and machining tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an ITI or equivalent trade certificate is preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials.
Work environment
- Work is in manufacturing or production workshops and requires adherence to strict safety standards.
- Work location is in person.
Pay
- Pay is AED 1,800–2,000 per month.
