Landscape Architect

Role Overview

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline is required.
• Relevant professional experience in landscape design and project delivery is required.
• Knowledge of landscape design principles, site planning, horticulture, environmental design, grading, drainage, irrigation, hardscape, and landscape construction is required.
• Knowledge of plant species, planting techniques, landscape maintenance, planning regulations, building requirements, landscape standards, and health and safety requirements is required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS applications, and SketchUp or other 3D modeling software is required.
• Professional registration or certification may be required by the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills and Competencies

• Ability to prepare professional drawings, plans, details, specifications, schedules, and presentations.
• Strong communication, coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Design Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed landscape designs.
• Prepare landscape master plans, planting plans, hardscape layouts, grading plans, and details.
• Select materials, finishes, furniture, lighting elements, and landscape features.
• Develop planting schemes appropriate to local climate and site conditions.
• Integrate sustainable and environmentally responsible design solutions.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings and specifications.
• Produce planting schedules, material schedules, and quantity information.

Coordination and Delivery

• Coordinate landscape drawings with architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and other consultant drawings.
• Review technical information to ensure design coordination and constructability.
• Communicate with clients and coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities.
• Attend design coordination meetings and site meetings.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, samples, and technical proposals.
• Assist with tender and procurement documentation where required.
• Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resources.
• Coordinate the work of junior landscape architects, designers, and technicians.
• Review drawings and design work produced by team members.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Ensure deliverables meet required quality, time, and design standards.
