Junior Software Developer (Content Integration & Data Pipelines)

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop code through an Agile process, build features, and enhance existing products.
• Build and maintain TypeScript and Nest.js web scrapers and content integrations using responsible crawling practices.
• Design Java REST APIs and Kafka event-driven services to process and route content.
• Integrate third-party content providers, RSS/Atom feeds, and external APIs.
• Collaborate across backend, frontend, and product teams; test, review, refactor, and improve systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript and hands-on Java development and REST API experience.
• Familiarity with content pipelines, web scraping/crawling standards, and event-driven architecture or message streaming such as Kafka.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.

Additional experience and assets

• Experience with SQL, Linux, Git, Kafka, and Maven is listed in the posting.
• Nice to have: HTML parsing and content extraction, AI/LLM-powered content enrichment, and Solr indexing, schema design, or query tuning.
