Role summary

Software developer in ITSD Business Platforms, working with the Sales & Trading team.

Join a global team building a pre-execution sales-trader workflow system for structuring, valuing, and matching voice deals for interest-rate products.

The advertised salary range is £58,000–£88,000, with the final offer based on candidate skills, experience, scope, location, and market factors.

The role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and benefits including pension provision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the workflow system using Java 25 as the primary language.
  • Deliver functional and non-functional requirements while maintaining extensibility and reliability.
  • Collaborate with analysts, product owners, IT partners, development leads, managers, traders, and production support across regions.
  • Participate in team meetings and agile ceremonies, and demonstrate the impact of system changes.
  • Improve development and release environments, tooling, and processes.
  • Provide level 3 support as required and balance project work, business-as-usual activities, and support tasks.

Required qualifications and experience

  • At least six years of relevant experience.
  • Degree-level education in Computer Science or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including concurrency, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Extensive experience with distributed systems and multi-threaded, asynchronous applications, including development, profiling, and maintenance.
  • Strong Java development skills, including streams, lambdas, and advanced concurrency APIs.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and OpenShift.
  • Ability to deliver software on short cycles using Scrum or Agile methodology.
  • Experience with JVM monitoring, profiling, performance tuning, debugging, test-driven development, and CI/CD on large complex systems.
  • Proactive self-starter able to take initiative and influence cross-disciplinary teams.

Desirable experience

  • JavaScript or TypeScript and ReactJS experience is a plus.
  • Pricing or risk experience in investment banking, algo trading, low-latency programming, and microsecond-sensitive workloads are desirable.
  • Dynamic scalability, cloud deployment, EKS or Nomad, Docker or containers, gRPC, cloud services, Kafka or other messaging, and workflow or state management are advantageous.
